One of the hottest pop-ups in New York this summer was the Museum of Ice Cream, in the Meatpacking at 100 Gansevoort Street. Sadly for those looking to get a 'taste' it's only in the city through August 31st and is completely sold out. It was a pretty genius idea (who doesn't love ice cream?), so it's not a complete surprise that the timed tickets were gone in a matter of a week.
Scoring a ticket required immediate action, which resulted in me going by myself. But that is part of living in this city - taking advantage of all the activities (solo or not), and it really was the total ice cream experience!
As you enter the museum (complete with curated ice cream art) you are greeted with a cup of ice cream, which rotates flavors from NY based sweet shops each week. Following the tasting you walk into arguably one of the cooler exhibits - edible balloons. From there you contribute to the largest ice cream sundae, walk through a chocolate room, jump into a sprinkle swimming pool, experience tastings galore and end in Tinderland. Yes you read that right... Sponsored by the dating app, visitors can discover their "true flavor match" with a custom app, ice cream sandwich swing and ice cream scoop seesaw.
It really was the hottest playground for adults this summer - and the perfect opportunity to score the hottest 'pool selfie' around (with or without a cute flotation device). Since tickets sold out like a hot fudge sundae, cheesy reference I know, cross your fingers they choose to extend this exhibit or they bring it to a city near you. For now enjoy the photos below!
