About a month ago a couple friends and I road tripped from the city to Pennsylvania for a lantern festival. I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my summer so far.
Once we arrived we picked up our lanterns and s'mores kits and joined 5,000 other people in a random field. While we were waiting for it to get dark we picnicked, bonded and came up with the perfect quotes to write on our lanterns.
As darkness approached we all gathered around the tiki torches spread throughout the field to prepare to light our lanterns.
The only word I have for the feeling you experience as you release your lantern and stare up at the sky as 5,000 other lanterns are released is...breaktaking. Sure thoughts of the movie Tangled came to mind. But I have now added Yi Peng which takes place every Fall in Chiang Mai, Thailand to my bucket list.
