DIY...smoothie?

DIY...smoothie?

One thing I used to do on a daily basis when I lived in LA (well during the week that is) was make a smoothie for myself.

In NY you get lazy and Starbucks & Pret get way more convenient. But I have gotten better in recent months about gathering ingredients and making this healthy breakfast once again - at work. How...may you ask? My department awesomingly has a NutriBullet. Which sure may not be the most "top-line" blender out there - but for someone who doesn't want to have to cart a smoothie back-and-forth on the subway does a pretty legit job.

Bringing the ingredients to work does kind of suck sometimes - which is why I will go get them from TJ's at lunch and put them in the freezer. But it is definitely worth it.

Now when I forget, or the fridge/freezer gets too crowded (because I've noticed more and more of my coworkers are jumping on the "bring your food to work" trend) there is an amazing little place on the UES which takes out the work of gathering ingredients and blending yourself. Enter Mimo Blend, which brings DIY to smoothies (and juice blends, acai bowls, yogurt bowls and snack mixes)!

The best part about Mimo Blend is the smoothies are $8, the acai/yogurt bowls are $10 and the snack mixes are $5. You can also get as many mix-ins as you want! Yes you read that right...no upcharge for adding booster or protein mix-ins (which would be premium at other places)!  Just grab a cup, fill it with whatever you want, take it to the counter and watch them do their magic.

Take a look below, and up your health game!

PS... For those who aren't getting some of the things I refer to in my posts check out this post where I break down how I talk.

Cute and easy to walk by - I almost did it!

Simple and sweet: grab a cup, fill it with as much of whatever you want, and watch them blend!

My creation: banana, papaya, honeydew, strawberries, dates, and some vanilla protein powder.

And then I added a little coconut water (next time I may try to go a little more "savory") ;)
